Affects of Sugar

PhotobucketI posted recently about fake sugar, and encouraged you to try and consume natural sugar (like the kind found in fruit). Lifehacker just ran an article about the affects of sugar, the different kinds of sugars, and how to be a healthier consumer of sugar. My favorite line of advice from this post:

“Failure is a lot more likely if you try to pack in large amounts of change at once . When you cut back on anything slowly, it feels much easier and is more likely to stick.”

This is so true for everything. EVERYTHING. If you find yourself especially drawn to sugar heavy foods, try to make healthy substitutions and small changes that don’t feel like you’re denying yourself something you want. Over time you could go from cupcakes to fresh fruit/veggie juice without feeling like you’re making a huge sacrifice.
