Book Review: The Skinny

September 20, 2011

PhotobucketMy neighbor Jessica lent me The Skinny: What every skinny woman knows about dieting (and won’t tell you!). Basically, the two authors took every thin woman they knew and interviewed them, then compiled all their ideas, rituals and habits into one comedic book.

I wouldn’t recommend this book seriously if you are someone who is researching to start a weight loss program based on healthy diet and regular exercise. But, this book is hilarious and perfect for ladies who have been working at it for awhile and have a sense of humor.

There is a chapter on how to use divorce or breaking up as motivation. There are clothing tips, crash dieting jokes, tips for eating on vacation and more. It’s a good, quick read, if you’ve got an hour or so to kill, and it helped me keep in mind that while diet and exercise are a big part of my life, they aren’t my life. I’d definitely suggest reading this book, just remember to take it with a grain of salt.
